Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Commercial Credit Manager (Agribusiness) to provide leading risk oversight, insight, and control by achieving critical business and portfolio outcomes, including risk/reward and operational risk effectiveness. 

Key to your success will be your proven ability to engage and influence through your demonstrated strong credit risk assessment and evaluation skills. 

How will I help?

  • Working across the Agribusiness banking team to support the new bank and existing lending transactions including continuously monitoring and reviewing customer and sector risks, and providing expert insight and advice across diversified industries.
  • Maintains the organization’s credit standards and business service quality by ensuring all credit decisions are soundly based, involve appropriate oversight, and reflect the organization’s current underwriting standards, policies, and risk appetite for the segment
  • Ensures that credit decisions are communicated in a constructive manner with consideration of suggestions or alternatives to make the risk acceptable.
  • Provides regular insight into a local portfolio to recognize and monitor trends, loss/provision ratios, early identification of deteriorating credits, risk/reward returns, and remedial strategies and reviews these as appropriate
  • Adopt a team approach to workflow management in line with broader team priorities which may evolve or vary over time.
  • Maintains a partnership approach to achieve the best outcomes for customers and the organization
  • Identifies barriers that undermine working collaboratively with bankers and escalates as appropriate to resolve
  • Advocates a one-team culture and delivers credit coaching to embed process improvement and build credit skills capability for bankers.
  • Day-to-day involvement with Credit Colleagues, Assistant Relationship Managers, Senior Relationship Managers, Relationship Directors, and Regional General Managers

What do I need?

To succeed in this role, you need:

  • Significant banking/financial services experience across a broad range of disciplines with at least 5 years of experience originating and/or approving credit transactions within the Business and Agri segments.
  • Resilience to deal with adversity, conflict, and tight timeframes.
  • Commitment to Self-management, flexibility, and an organized and disciplined operating rhythm.
  • Contributes to a strong risk culture through an open mind to continuous improvement and change.
  • Sound, communication, and relationship-building capabilities enable an inclusive and collaborative approach in day to day activities
  • Experience, skills, and qualifications to hold a minimum Level 5 CAL
  • Ability and courage to use expert judgment in making decisions
  • Ability to empathize with Farmers or Regional businesses during times of adversity
  • Basic knowledge of agriculture and ability to learn industry-specific financial analysis techniques  
  • Desire and ability to coach Bankers and ARMs
  • Ability to work remotely and communicate via electronic means
