Job Description
Utilizing your highly developed experience and knowledge in mental health nursing, you will provide mental health services to patients of the Rural and Remote Inpatient Units (open and closed wards), located at Glenside.
Your role at this level will be predominantly clinical in nature, and you will monitor consumer care plans to ensure appropriate outcomes are achieved on a daily basis.
Working within pre-determined guidelines, you will assess consumers, select and implement different therapeutic interventions and support programs, and evaluate consumer progress.
As an experienced member of the multi-disciplined team, you will oversee the provision of nursing care and act to resolve local or immediate service delivery problems.
You will promote continuity and consistency of care in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent, acting as a resource person based on your mental health nursing knowledge, experience, and skills.
You will accept accountability for your own practice standards, activities delegated to others, and for the guidance and development of less experienced staff.
Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you will be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate along with a relevant postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Practice.
With a proven track record of experience in mental health nursing practice, you will be creative, innovative, and flexible when approaching issues within the mental health setting.
You will need to have sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards, National Mental Health Strategy, Mental Health Standards, and relevant legislation.
The South Australian public sector promotes diversity and flexible ways of working part-time. Applicants are encouraged to discuss the flexible working arrangements for this role.
In addition to the annual salary package, we also offer salary sacrifice benefits, employer superannuation contributions, and leave loading. The appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunization requirements.
Suitably qualified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply and will be given preference as a special/equal opportunity measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and sections 34(2) and 56(2) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA).
