Purpose of the function
Support the business teams to develop the Quality agenda for the categories/New businesses in the region. Propose common priorities based on learnings and build quality competence to deliver products satisfying customer expectations in all aspects of democratic design.
Job Description
- In close collaboration with the business development teams, suppliers, and Packaging Solution Engineer (IoS) implement new and improved packaging solutions and handling material to achieve sustainable packaging with the right quality, at the lowest total cost for IKEA.
- Support business development teams with specialist knowledge regarding packaging requirements and follow up the implementation of agreed activities for the Categories, in the PLA
- Support implementation of packaging working methods throughout the categories and at suppliers
- Verify Compliance to P-0010 and PRG-0019 for the Categories, in each PLA
Responsible as super user of DWP - Support accurate data quality in packaging-related IT systems e.g. DWP in Categories and at suppliers
- Secure packaging competence in the categories and at suppliers, by knowledge sharing and facilitating relevant training
- Lead packaging and packing-related projects with suppliers and within IKEA to support the business needs
- Support Packing Line efficiency assessments & participate in efficiency projects by providing inputs and recommendations on packaging solutions based on packing line efficiency analysis to Packaging Solution engineers.
- And Packaging Development Engineer Support business development teams in handling Packaging related deviations (e.g. Q-Alarms, Claims, deviation reports from Distribution Centres, quality deviations for CB & PP delivered by packaging sub-suppliers).
- Contribute to the continuous development of Packaging in IKEA, by cooperating with Packaging Development Engineers in relation to Packaging Solutions and with Packaging Development members for the development of IOS-P-0010 and by executing global packaging-related assignments.
Qualification
- Technical background, Engineering degree in packaging or mechanical sciences.
- Experience working in a production environment.
- Experience working with packaging process or packaging development.
- Understanding of IKEA business model and total cost approach in IKEA.
- Experience in informal leadership and cooperating in teams.
- Good understanding of purchasing teams and suppliers’ daily operational activities.
Knowledge
- Very good knowledge of Packaging Material (e.g. Cost drivers, Raw material, Production, Sustainability, and Innovation).
- Very good knowledge of IKEA packaging requirements and working methods.
- Good knowledge of IKEA Packaging Test methods and standards.
- Good knowledge in efficient packing process: production conditions and supply chain pre-conditions.
- Knowledge of lean production methods and tools.
- Knowledge of IKEA Supply Chain (Cost drivers, handling and storage of goods, sales, and distribution channels).
- Knowledge about ergonomic regulations connected to the handling of packages
- Knowledge of project management tools.
- Knowledge of relevant IT tools (Solid Works, Artios CAD, CAPE Pack, Pia, PLUS, DWP, etc.).
