Job Description
Due to our ongoing success, we have a great opportunity for an experienced Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to accompany our team on a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects. You will have a large involvement in both new build and refurbishment projects, working from early planning to the end delivery phase.
Role and Responsibilities
- Prepare design calculations and drawings for the full range of Mechanical Services under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.
- Design elements of HVAC & PH package and potentially full mechanical designs for smaller schemes.
- Carry out concept load calculations, ventilation sizing, water pipes sizing, and other calculations within the mechanical engineering field.
- Liaise with manufacturers and select plant items for specifications on projects.
- Produce and update technical equipment schedules for projects.
- Review of Mechanical Design constraints.
- Support Senior Engineers in carrying out the project design from commencement to completion.
- Guide & Monitor CAD/BIM Technicians’ support.
- Communicate and collaborate with team members, clients, and other construction professionals about projects.
- Represent the company at design team meetings with clients and other construction professionals.
- Offer leadership, mentoring, and motivation to junior engineers.
- Work towards your chartership with the support of your mentor and colleagues regularly and systematically.
- Keep up to date with the CPD requirements within the CIBSE/IMechE.
- Carry out thorough site investigations, complete inspections, identify issues, and solve problems.
- Understand the principles of BREEAM and LEED sustainability accreditation schemes.
Software capabilities
- Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM Environment.
- Navisworks.
- MagiCAD desirable.
- IES Virtual Environment (Basic knowledge allowing reports to be reviewed).
Education requirements
- HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent certified Mechanical Engineer.
- Member of a professional Institute (CIBSE, IMechE, etc.)
