Job Description

A better understanding of the Earth creates a better world for all. Seequent brings together industry-leading earth modeling, geo-data management, and team collaboration software. Because when everyone can see the full picture, they can make better decisions that benefit people and the planet.

Every day, our customers in over 100 countries work to develop vital mineral resources more sustainably, design and build better infrastructure, protect the environment, source renewable energy and help resolve historical challenges such as groundwater contamination and aging infrastructure.

We’re here to help them. That is why we’re constantly evolving at the forefront of technology and geoscience –  from Cloud accessibility to 3D modeling, to digital collaboration.

Headquartered in New Zealand with our team located in 25 locations around the world, Seequent is a high-growth, people-centric success story. We’re passionate, curious, Earth lovers.

The Role

Our Christchurch-based Platform Services team serves both external customers and internal business functions. We are a relaxed and friendly, yet quite fast-paced team who are driven to deliver awesome technology!

You’ll work primarily with our Christchurch-based software engineering teams and interact with like-minded developers in the US and Canada, who take pride in what they do and who they do it for. As our business continues to grow, we support, maintain , and develop solutions on various technologies running in Microsoft and Amazon cloud environments.

The team owns a critical identity and licensing system and a suite of micro services associated with it to support desktop applications, end-users, and an increasing amount of cloud applications from other teams.

We have a well-established reputation for uptime and reliability and are increasingly working on proactive operational metrics and data-focused design.

The role includes the ongoing development and integration of scalable, highly available, cloud-based identity and licensing systems and their integration with our desktop solutions, Cloud services, customer-facing web applications, and data platforms.

The successful candidate will work in a cross-functional team to design, develop, deploy, maintain, and support various business systems. There will be a strong focus on continuous improvements for our platforms and operational support. You’ll collaboratively share information and learn from mistakes – seeking and acting on feedback for constant improvement.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop, test, deploy, monitor, and support code that is built to be robust
  • Breakdown complex problems and understand requirements
  • Raise and review pull requests
  • Influence the customer outcome and support developed solutions long term
  • Flex your system integration muscle
  • Utilize a range of technologies across a varied set of systems with a ‘best tool for the job’ mindset

While we don’t require you to have worked with our tech stack previously, what is important is you are happy to learn and work with it. Generally, if our team is spinning up a new code base it may look like the following:

  • A service or serverless function, written in Python, Java, or C#
  • Based on a variety of AWS services
  • Deployed via an automated CI/CD toolchain and infrastructure as code
  • Monitored by alerting and logging tools (e.g., Datadog)

Why you will enjoy working with us…

You will be joining a highly-skilled, highly productive team of technical experts who are passionate about what we do. We are a friendly, intelligent, and supportive bunch and are looking forward to you bringing your expertise to the team.

Our wider team is geographically diverse and from multi-disciplines, so even though you will be in Christchurch based you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues from across the globe.

In addition to awesome colleagues and work culture, you can also expect the following benefits:

Flexibility – Create a work-life balance that suits you with our hybrid work model.
Facilities –
Make use of the onsite gym, locker facilities, secure bike sheds, ergonomic standing desks, ping pong tables, and spacious café.
