The Role

As the Innovation Science and Technology (IST) Manager within the Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) Program Office, you will be responsible for implementing the IAMD Program IST Strategy in collaboration with staff in the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) and Project leads in Air Force Headquarters.

You will also be responsible for maintaining the IAMD Program IST Plan with annual updates to related Project submissions to Government.

We’re looking for motivated and innovative thinkers who can:

  • Provide Project Management skills, coordination, and support to DSTG specialists, when developing technology-based Work Package plans
  • Ensure that Work Package plans include compelling arguments that can be used to support business cases, with clearly defined scope, cost, and schedule information
  • Build relationships with a wide stakeholder group across the innovation ecosystem in DSTG, academia, industry, and related programs in other Domains (e.g. Land and Maritime)
  • Develop processes and tools to improve the visibility of activities being conducted across the innovation ecosystem and allow the Air Force to be more proactive at ‘harnessing’ the innovation ecosystem in a coordinated and coherent manner
  • Coordinate IST Working Group meetings and provide secretariat services for the Director IAMD Program Management Office
  • Coordinate input from stakeholders when developing and updating key artifacts such as the IAMD Program IST Plan, Work Packages, and the Innovation Ecosystem Engagement Plan (IEEP)
  • Receive, assess and analyze technical proposals from the Defence Innovation Hub.

About our Team

The IAMD Program Management Office’s mission is to develop the Australian Defence Force’s IAMD capability in order to counter air and missile threats to Australian national interests as part of Australia’s air defense capability.

Specifically, the IAMD Program Management Office’s responsibilities include leading program-wide capability development initiatives including strategy development and alignment, threat analysis and communication, modeling and simulation, identifying capability needs, and leading and coordinating international engagement activities across the program.

The IAMD Program management office also performs program management functions, including scope, schedule, financial, contract, risk, and issues management as well as being the lead for governance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement for program-level matters.
