Your Opportunity:
Practicing within the philosophy and guidelines of Alberta Kidney Care – South the Unit Clerk works as a member of the health care team, collaborating in the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families, and/or communities.
Duties and responsibilities include effective and appropriate management of patients and patient information as required by Alberta Kidney Care – South and Alberta Health Services in collaboration with the inter-professional team.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients, and families while maintaining the confidentiality of patient information.
You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients, and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts,
Transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Equivalencies in education may be considered. Excellent organizational and time management skills to efficiently organize and prioritize workload in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to be self-directed, motivated, and exercise independent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Basic computer skills and proficiency in the following computer applications: MS Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Internet. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact collaboratively and maintain effective and respectful working relationships in a team environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal. Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to exercise judgment, professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues and patient information. Compliance with the AHS Hand Hygiene policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years experience as a Unit Clerk in an acute care setting preferred. Renal experience preferred. Experience using and knowledge of the following applications: Connect Care, Netcare, Clinibase, OACCS, Renal PARIS, SCM, ESP Scheduling, payroll, and ALTRA preferred.
